About Me

Welcome to My Portfolio Website!

My given name is Byron, but I go by my middle name, Tyler. I was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida and now attend the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. I am pursuing a major in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Robotics.

My passion for creative problem solving began in elementary school with my participation in a competition called Odyssey of the Mind. In 5th grade, my team placed fifth in the world competition where we designed a car that had to display different emotions. Our solution was powered by a drill and air wrench and was outfitted with different eyes, colored lights, and a hat that shot off to display the emotions. Since then, my interests have evolved into graphic design and then CAD and manufacturing.

Since arriving at Georgia Tech, I have been involved in extracurriculars such as RoboJackets and Club Baseball. As a member of the RoboRacing team of RoboJackets, I work with other students to design, build, test, and compete with autonomous robots. Since I joined in Fall 2019, we have been working on a completely new autonomous go-kart named “Rigatoni.” With the mechanical sub-team, I have been working on designing and manufacturing the steering system for the kart. You can find out more about this project in my portfolio. Additionally, during the Fall 2020 semester, I became a Prototyping Instructor (PI) at the Flowers Invention Studio. As a PI, I help other students and faculty who come to use the various tools at the maker space with their projects.

Outside of school and engineering, I am an avid sports fan and video game lover. Ever since tee-ball I have played baseball and continue to do so on Georgia Tech’s Club Baseball team. I usually play in the outfield or as the catcher. College football has always been my favorite activity to watch on fall Saturdays and I love to cheer on the Yellow Jackets (THWg). When I’m not watching sports or playing video games, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
